A gentleman has kindly given me his son’s laptop. He was a young adult, who sadly passed away. I’ve been trying to capture everything I feel his father would like to have, such as letters, photos, etc. But I’m struggling with a number of things, clearly due to my limited technical experience.

Right now, it’s over the opening and usage of IE8. It’s restricted, saying
“IE is currently running with add-ons disabled. Click here to manage, disable, or remove your add-ons.”
When I do click on ‘manage add-ons’ I get a display page, which shows a number of add-ons. However, it suggests that they are all ‘enabled.’

I’m not quite sure where to go from here and would be grateful for any advice as to what I might do next. I’ve tried downloading IE8 again, but without any success.

I’d like to be able to get into IE8 and to use it actively. I would be grateful for any advice.
